Actor John Leguizamo, who played Luigi in the 1993 live-action Super Mario Bros., has stated that he will not be watching The Super Mario Bros. Movie because “they messed up the inclusion.”

In an interview with TMZ, Leguizamo expressed his frustration with the lack of Latin representation in the movie, stating:

“They could’ve included a Latin character like I was groundbreaking, and then they stopped the groundbreaking. They messed up the inclusion. They dis-included. Just cast some Latin folk! We’re 20% of the population. The largest people of color group, and we are underrepresented.” Leguizamo said

This isn’t the first time that Leguizamo has spoken out about the casting. Last November, Leguizamo shared his thoughts on Mario and Luigi not being voiced by a person of color.

“I’m O.G. A lot of people love the original. I did Comic-Con in New York and in Baltimore, and everyone’s like, ‘No, no, we love the old one, the original,'” Leguizamo said during the premiere of The Menu. “They’re not feeling the new one. I’m not bitter. It’s unfortunate.”

If you had to explain Yo-kai Watch in a nutshell to someone who’s never heard of or played it, you might boil it down to “Pokemon but with Japanese ghosts” or “Baby’s first Shin Megami Tensei.” Anything grim or distressing about a kid who can talk to ghosts goes by the wayside when the ghosts are comical entities like a missing left sock or a possessed police car. In this third expansive and quirky outing for the Yo-kai Watch series, our hero Nate has to take on a quest far more daunting than anything he’s faced so far: moving to America.

Microsoft has confirmed the Game Pass removals for the first half of January 2024, and there are five titles exiting the catalog, including Grand Theft Auto V. This was previously reported and now it’s confirmed.

Rockstar’s popular open-world game leaves the catalog on January 5. The game has been added to and removed from the Game Pass library on multiple occasions, dating back to its original arrival into the subscription catalog 2020 Come from Sports betting site VPbet . A series of concerning genetic test results have recently confirmed 11 cases of tuberculosis in Contra Costa County, California. Ten out of the 11 confirmed cases were genetically linked.

Also, most of the confirmed cases were related to patrons and employees at California Grand Casino in Contra Costa County, California. The eleventh case has not been tested genetically yet.

As a result, Contra Costa Health (CCH) officials have issued a serious warning to the public, urging anyone who has spent time at the casino located on Pacheco Boulevard in the past five years to get tested for tuberculosis.

Last week, Magic: The Gathering announced a new Secret Lair collab with the famous virtual pop star Hatsune Miku in what will amount to a year-long print schedule with four Secret Lair drops, each releasing seasonally throughout 2024. 

We’ve already had a sneak peek at the first six-card set, Hatsune Miku: Sakura Superstar, and honestly, every card is worth hunting for (via Polygon). My personal favourite is a toss-up between Miku, the Renowned by Yuko Shimizu, and Harmonize by Syutsuri, but I wouldn’t turn my nose up at any of the other four cards on offer. 

In true Miku fashion, plenty of other artists are chiming in and creating their own illustrations for this upcoming set. This includes designs from Justyna Dura, Jehan Choo, Mandy Jurgens, and Dani Pendergast.

There’s a bit of a feud going on at the moment between PC players who don’t want to sign into PSN accounts on top of their Steam accounts and Sony, a megacorporation that almost certainly will not budge on the issue. The latest move to get rid of PSN was from a modder who tried to make it possible to circumvent the sign-in progress in God of War: Ragnarök’s PC port, but the workaround has now been taken offline.

“We’ve noticed that the popular PSN-bypass mod for God of War: Ragnarök has been removed from our site by the author, and so we’ve reached out to find out why,” Nexus Mods said in a tweet on Thursday. In a reply, Nexus Mods later confirmed that the modder, known as iArtoriasUA, decided to remove the mod as it got too much traction, and they didn’t want to get into hot water with Sony.

The cutesy art style belies the style of game here, a fairly in-depth premise that uses the basic concepts of the roguelike deckbuilder laid on top of an axis of movement letting you slide your spaceship to the left or right. You can use that movement to dodge attacks, line up your weapons with enemy weak points, and even put debris between yourself and the enemy as cover.

EA Sports is embarking on a huge re-branding exercise, with 2023 the first year it will release a football game without the FIFA imprimatur. The new-look EA Sports FC branding has been omnipresent at football matches and in coverage for a while now, but with EA ready to show off the game fans are finally getting a glimpse of what to expect. And it seems to be very bad faces. 

The cover for the EA Sports FC 24 ultimate edition has been revealed, featuring 30 football greats from the present and past, and wow does this thing go hard on the uncanny valley effect. Both male and female players are represented, various leagues and national teams, and the idea is clearly to show that, hey, this may have a new look but we’ve got all the stars of the game here.

At first glance it might look alright, particularly as the focal point is Erling Haaland in the middle and EA seems to have done a decent job of his face. But look at the others a little closer and you’ll soon see just how odd this all is. At a glance, the Levus looks like a torture device from some dystopian future or something you’d find in the back room of a shady arcade. The Levus is a “zero gravity ergonomic workstation” designed to reduce vertical spine pressure by evenly disturbing your body weight while you work.

There’s just something about a cute, fluffy sheep operating a machine gun, an adorable cartoon dinosaur raining down missiles, and dozens of sad Pokémon-ish critters forced into labor camps to build weapons, all set to bright and cheery music. It always makes me wonder: Is this game okay?

This game is Palworld, an open world creature collecting game that’s also a third-person shooter. And humans aren’t the only ones with guns: the creatures themselves can spray the world with red-hot lead, too. As you can see in the new Palworld trailer above, it’s all pretty unhinged! But at the same time, I dunno, it also looks kinda fun.

We’ll find out if it’s fun in January of 2024, when Palworld enters early access. “Craft a cozy homestead, build a mighty base and a Pal-powered factory, or dive into dungeons with the assistance of Pals’ weapon-wielding special abilities,” says developer Pocketpair. “Embark on legendary monster hunts solo or invite friends for a multiplayer adventure.”

Summertime vibes only, baby. It’s July, it’s hot, I’m thinking fun in the sun, I’m thinking Sega Bass Fishing. Sega is offering free Steam keys of the oft-ported Arcade/Dreamcast classic as a limited time promotion⁠—you just have to sign up for the company’s mailing list to receive a free copy of the typically $8 game on August 1.

I did so immediately, verified my email, and eagerly awaited my code only to discover that lone catch: Sega will not be sending out the codes until after the promotion ends. You have until July 31 to sign up for your free copy of Sega Bass Fishing, and codes will then be sent out August 1. That’s ok, instead of instant gratification you’re sending a gift to your future self, like when there was a six-month wait on Steam Deck preorders.

Pour one out for EVGA graphics cards. Back in September 2022, the company announced it would make no more, bringing to a close a run of rather performant and well-cooled GPUs, many of which were capable of some serious overclocking.

One of the figures behind some of those super-tweakable designs was Vince “Kingpin” Lucido, an extreme overclocker known for his all-black design ethos and his work with EVGA (via Videocardz). After EVGA’s exit, however, Lucido did seem like he was open to offers from other vendors. 

Now that period is over, after exploring collaborations with some other big-name companies he’s now working with PNY on some of its latest designs.

Gamers Nexus’ Steve Burke got the chance to take a tour of the lab Lucido calls “Kingpin studios” in Taipei, a futuristic building that looks like a gigantic workshop of PC gaming dreams. In amongst his impressive array of hardware (and some fancy-looking electric bikes), Lucido explains why he chose to work with PNY over others.
